Hiring Routes
Campus · NQT Off-campus · BPS
TCS hires freshers through 3 main routes. Choose the one that applies to you:
🎓 Route 1 — Campus Placement
TCS visits colleges directly. Your placement cell announces the drive. You register through your college and appear for the NQT on campus. Best for students whose college is included in TCS drives.
💻 Route 2 — TCS NQT Off-Campus (All India)
For students from colleges NOT visited by TCS. Anyone from the 2024, 2025, or 2026 batch can register directly on the TCS NextStep portal and appear at a nearby TCS iON centre.
🏢 Route 3 — TCS BPS Hiring (Non-IT)
For Arts & Commerce graduates — B.Com, BA, BBA, BMS, BAF, BBI. This is a separate track for Business Processing roles, not the IT/software track.

Getting In Through Referral
Senior roles · Network · Employee referral
If you have more than 4 years of experience, the most effective way to land a role at TCS is through employee referrals and professional networking. Referral candidates are prioritised and move faster through the hiring pipeline.
Why Referral Works for Senior Roles
- TCS employees actively refer ex-colleagues, batchmates, and LinkedIn connections
- Referred candidates skip early screening and reach HR/technical rounds faster
- TCS has an internal referral program with incentives for employees who refer
- Senior roles are often filled before even being posted publicly
How to Get a Referral — Step by Step
LinkedIn Outreach
Search "TCS" + your domain on LinkedIn. Connect with current TCS employees. Send a short, personalised message — not a mass copy-paste.
College Alumni Network
Check if any seniors from your college work at TCS. Alumni are more likely to refer — reach out via LinkedIn or college WhatsApp groups.
Ex-Colleagues
If any of your past colleagues moved to TCS, reach out. A referral from a known colleague holds the strongest weight internally.
Telegram & WhatsApp Groups
Many TCS employee communities exist on Telegram. Search "TCS jobs referral" groups. Post your profile and ask politely.
How to Ask for a Referral (Message Template)
Tips for Senior Candidates
- Update your LinkedIn headline with your key skill — e.g., "Java Developer | 5 Yrs | Microservices | AWS"
- Keep your resume crisp — 2 pages max, focused on impact and numbers
- Apply directly on tcs.com/careers in parallel to referral outreach
- Follow TCS LinkedIn page — they post roles and tag hiring managers sometimes
- Engage with TCS posts on LinkedIn — visibility helps when you reach out
